Leila Lopes - Miss Universe 2011
Leila Luliana da Costa Vieira Lopes (born February 26, 1986) is an Angolan beauty pageant titleholder who was crowned Miss Angola 2011 and Miss Universe 2011
Born in Benguela, Angola, Lopes says to be a business management student in Great Britain. On October 8, 2010, she was crowned Miss Angola UK. This election caused protests under the Angolan community in Britain, who critizied that Leila Lopes at that time was not a resident in the UK. On September 12, 2011 she was crowned Miss Universe 2011.
Lopes, who stands 1.79m tall, competed as one of 21 finalists in her country's national beauty pageant, Miss Angola, held in Luanda on December 18, 2010, where she obtained the Photogenic Award and became the eventual winner of the title, gaining the right to represent Angola in Miss Universe 2011.
"Thank God I'm very satisfied with the way God created me and I wouldn't change a thing," Lopes said when asked her interview question. "I consider myself a woman endowed with inner beauty. I have acquired many wonderful principles from my family and I intend to follow these for the rest of my life."
